COMMUNITY SUPPORT ACTIVITIES
Our council's first community service program began in 1992 to aid people with intellectual disabilities. Knights of Columbus councils throughout the United States have been doing that for decades.
Our volunteers collect over one weekend each year at the Shop Rite of Clinton and conduct an annual collection among the parishioners of St. Joseph Church in High Bridge. Over the years we have collected and contributed well over $100,000! and the majority of our those contributions directly benefit the ARC of Hunterdon County.

Covid-19 interrupted the annual collections and we were unable to
collect at Shop Rite in 2020, 2021 or 2022 (but resumed them in 2023).

Our patriotic commitment is demonstrated by the Interstate Highway Flag Program the council initiated soon after “9-11”, the 2011 attack on our country. Other groups and individuals had already began placing US flags over highway underpasses, but as time went on—many of the flags were not maintained. For the first few years of our council program, the council purchased flags and local Boy Scouts worked members to mount and maintain the flags on I-78 overpasses in Somerset County from west of I-287 and through all of Hunterdon County. Two flags are displayed on each overpass so that one flag faces the eastbound and the other faces the westbound lane.
Nearly two decades later, the Interstate Highway Flag Program continues, now coordinated by the Knights of Columbus Pope John Paul II Assembly 3293. Members of St. Joseph Council in High Bridge, Our Lady of Lourdes Council 6930 in Whitehouse Station and St. Catherine of Siena Council 15217 in Pittstown pay for the flags and do the work.

Our commitment to the community extends beyond our local area with our support for troops on active duty and support for US veterans at the Veteran's Haven North in Glen Gardner.
