Community Youth Sports
The council supports a variety of youth activities. In addition to several recurring programs, we have assisted boys seeking to attain Boy Scout Eagle Scout rank and we recognize area boys and girls who achieve Eagle Scout rank or Girl Scout Gold Awards.
Free Throw Championship TournamentsBasketball Free Throw Tournaments have been a mainstay of the Knights of Columbus for several decades. The St. Joseph Council conducted its first tournament in 1992, within months of its founding and has continued the program ever since. In recent years, the council has partnered with the High Bridge Youth Basketball program and the Lebanon Township Athletic Association to conduct the events at local schools.
Competition is open to boys & girls ages 9 - 14 with winners in each category advancing to Knights district, diocesan/regional and state levels. State Champions are invited to participate in the International Championship Tournament. See our Free Throw Tournaments Web Page for additional information. |
Soccer Challenge Tournaments
The Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge is an international competition designed for players to demonstrate the most basic soccer skill – the penalty kick. Open to all boys and girls in our community, ages 9-14, where each player is allowed 15 shots at the goal from the penalty line (12 yards from the goal). Winners progress to the district, diocesan/regional, state and international levels. If a winner is unavailable to participate, the second place finisher advances.
The St. Joseph Council has conducted the events since 2008 in High Bridge, partnering with the High Bridge Youth Soccer organization.
